The Fund for Public Health in New York City, Inc. (FPHNYC) on behalf of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) seeks proposals from community-based organizations for Active Art, an initiative to enhance the pedestrian experience through temporary, health-inspired public art installations.
FPHNYC anticipates awarding contracts of up to $15,000 to two (2) community-based organizations to develop and install artwork in these designated NYC Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) sites:
• East New York/Brownsville, Brooklyn: Pedestrian Footbridge at Livonia Avenue and Van Sinderen Avenue; and
• Jamaica, Queens: Sidewalk Extension on Parsons Boulevard between Jamaica Avenue and Archer Avenue.
This Request for Proposals (“RFP”) is not asking for submissions of conceptual designs, but rather for proposals describing the applicant’s proposed approach and capacity to manage artist outreach, community engagement, artwork approval, and the installation and maintenance of the artwork.
Funding for these projects will be disbursed by FPHNYC to eligible organizations based on their response to this RFP. The funding for this award is provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This RFP is subject to the availability of funding provided to FPHNYC by the CDC Award.
