The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC), on behalf of the Building Healthy Communities (BHC) initiative, is currently accepting proposals for community based organizations interested in implementing nutrition education and/or cooking workshops for residents of the Corona and Flushing communities to encourage healthy eating. Applicants are encouraged to incorporate Health Bucks coupons as an incentive in their programming. Health Bucks are $2 coupons redeemable for fresh fruit and vegetables at most NYC farmers markets and fresh food box sites.
The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to identify and support groups and organizations that would like to offer programming that encourages access to, preparation of, and consumption of fresh, nutritious food that is available in local farmers markets in Corona and Flushing, using Health Bucks to increase purchasing power among residents to buy produce in farmers markets. Funding for these programs and Health Bucks coupons will be disbursed by FPHNYC to eligible institutions based on their response to this RFP.
