Seeking Non-Profit Community Based Organization to Participate in the Farms at NYCHA Initiative

The Fund for Public Health in New York, Inc. (FPHNY), in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Partnerships, NYCHA, and Green City Force, is seeking proposals from community-based organizations to participate in the Farms at NYCHA initiative at Forest Houses in the South Bronx.

FPHNY, in cooperation with New York City Housing Authority and Green City Force, is leading the initiative to seek a qualified community-based organization to serve as the Bronx local partner for Farms at NYCHA, lending local technical expertise and building long term project sustainability. Project partners anticipate selecting one community-based organization to serve as the local partner for a farm in the South Bronx, to be established in late 2017. The selected partner would come on board in January 2018 for the first full farm season.

This RFP seeks to determine the readiness of the organization to work within the parameters of the initiative. The information provided in the RFP will be the only written opportunity for organizations to demonstrate their readiness and capacity to meet eligibility requirements. Written responses will be reviewed and scored by a committee in November. Selected applicants will be asked to participate in an in-person meeting in November. The applicant selected as a local partner for the Bronx site will enter into an agreement with participating organizations (contract will begin Jan 2, 2018).

A separate Request for Proposals for partnership at a target development in Staten Island is expected to be issued at a later time. Each participating organization will receive up to $50,000 per year (with potential for renewal) for their involvement in this project.

Interested community-based organizations must complete the Request for Proposals Application, and include an IRS tax form indicating the organization has non-profit status. Deadline for Submission: Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:59pm EST.
